How has work been treating me lately?
- Published on
It's currently January 28, 2023, a Saturday. Ever since I started working, I always told myself that the weekend is for myself which means I don't need to think about work or coding itself. However, I think I have convinced myself enough that sometimes, I also have to work on some coding projects just so I could gain more knowledge and review concepts I studied in the past.
How has work been treating me lately?
So far, it has been okay. I have great and intelligent seniors who have been helping me with my tasks and co-workers who have been really kind in guiding me with development work. Some days, there are a LOT of tasks. Yesterday, I finished the last task I was assigned to as I was initially assigned to do around 11-12 tasks and I had to accomplish them until the end of the week! 😂 I kind of expected this, though. Having my first job at a startup is totally filled with a lot of growth and experience. I've met great people, learned a lot of concepts, and of course, contributed to my team's work as it is part of my job.
There were days that were definitely frustrating such as not understanding why this bug was here in the first place or having to ask too many questions from my seniors (but it's COMPLETELY FINE if you ask! Just take down notes so you would know what to do next time! 😉). I remember being assigned to one of the most challenging tasks around my 3rd month in the company as I had to update a whole screen which involved the creation of new components and understanding the variables in the component that I needed to update while following a certain design - it truly was hitting a lot of birds in one stone. I gained experience, learned more about our code, and started to interact with co-workers in another team. I have always been interested with the thought of being able to communicate using passion with other people. Actually, apart from being a dev, I aspire to be able to learn the rocks of Project Management someday. Soon!
What have I gained from all of this?
To be honest, I am excited to gain more experience and knowledge going around my work. I do hope someday, I get to reach the dreams I have always wanted to achieve ever since deciding to take up my college program.
For now, I want to document every event that is worth documenting, post them here, and share to other people how much my work has made me grow into a better person every day.
I also can't wait to share content such as
code snippets
'with you soon'.
All the best,
Mon
